John and Mary Ellen Upperco Upperco Family Scholarship

The purpose is to honor the memory of John & Mary Ellen Upperco, who supported and valued higher education.

The Mary Ellen Upperco Scholarship Fund Inc. (Upperco Family Scholarship) has been recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization since 1996. It is a 100% volunteer organization and complies with the Homeland Security laws.

The main fundraising event is an annual golf tournament.

Our goal is to fund a minimum of eight scholarships each year: University of Central Florida, three scholarships; Valencia College, two scholarships; and William R. Boone High graduates, three scholarships.

The John and Mary Ellen Upperco Scholarship (Upperco Family Scholarship) has awarded 155 scholarships to 132 different students since 1997, and 95 had attended William R. Boone High School.

The Scholarship Fund has established endowed scholarships at both Valencia College and the University of Central Florida (UCF). Both endowed scholarships are in the top 10% of endowed value at their respective universities.
